The Carlson Curriculum Support Committee created some charts to assist you in working with your students. This can be especially challenging when you might be teaching kindergartners one day and tenth graders the next. These pacing materials provide a big-picture look at what our students should be learning.  There are two types of materials in this section: Pacing Charts and Lists of Key Tasks.

Pacing Charts

The standards pacing charts (or key standards charts and overviews ) are intended to help you compare standards across the grade levels. For example, in the area of writing formats and genres, you can see that first graders are introduced to the definition of a sentence, second graders should write a single sentence correctly, and third graders should be able to create a single paragraph with a topic sentence and supporting details. (Please note that eighth grade math is tied to the high school curriculum.)

Lists of Key Tasks

The lists of key tasks offer a quick overview of what is learned in each grade. They are a good way to be familiar with the skills and concepts a wide range of Carlson students must master.
